The Vision

A foundational passage for Upstream Church is Luke 19:1-10. This passage tells of a man, Zacchaeus, who was in desperate need to see Jesus. God used a Sycamore tree to help the man see Jesus. Jesus sees the man and asks to stay at the man’s house. The man agrees and gives half of his possessions to the poor. Zacchaeus is saved in this interaction. Luke 19:10 states, “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost.” This passage is at the core of why Upstream Church exists. Upstream Church seeks to model this passage in three ways, gospel opportunity, gospel growth, and gospel community.
